What To Know

Keystone Family Private Lessons

Family Private Lessons

Thank you for booking your Keystone Ski & Ride School Lesson!

Family Private Lessons are available at both the River Run and Mountain House base areas. Please be sure to double check your lesson confirmation to assure you arrive at the appropriate location. Both base areas are accessible via Keystone’s in-resort transportation system. Free and paid public parking lots are available in River Run, while Mountain House offers paid parking options.

Our unique Family Private Lesson allows you and up to 5 additional family members—or friends—of any age to enjoy quality time together on-snow while progressing your skills. Family Private Lessons will typically cater to the youngest/least experienced member of the group, but our coaches will provide instruction to all. Look forward to a memorable experience for all and endless smiles (they’re free!).

Before beginning the lesson, your designated coach will spend time with your crew, learning about your progression goals for the lesson and creating a custom curriculum for your day together.

What to Bring:
  • Lift Ticket/Season Pass product (lift tickets are not included with private lessons, but may be purchased at Ski & Ride School locations on the day of your lesson)
  • Appropriate warm, waterproof outer layers (coat and pants)
  • Waterproof mittens/gloves (mittens are the warmer choice and our recommendation for hands that tend to get chilly!)
  • We suggest dressing children in layers, with a moisture wicking, non-cotton base layer
  • Smart Wool socks are our preferred footwear, but always wear only one pair of non-cotton socks
  • Sunglasses/goggles; the sun is stronger at 10,000’ and reflects off snow much like off of water
  • Supergoop! Sunscreen
  • Hand and/or foot warmers can be helpful on the coldest of days!
  • All equipment: Skis/snowboard, boots and poles (optional, for skiers only) Helmets are REQUIRED for all lesson participants under 15 years of age and are strongly recommended for all skiers and riders.

*Lockers are available nearby both Ski & Ride School locations. We suggest participants do not carry a backpack on the mountain. Classes will stop for water breaks as often as necessary. Please do ensure you carry your Lift Ticket, ID and cash/credit card if you’ll be purchasing lunch on the mountain

  • Once a reservation has begun we will offer a refund of unused lessons based on the price difference of the originally purchased product and the product that was used.
  • All lesson participants age 18 and over are required to sign a Ski & Ride School Assumption of Risk, Hold-Harmless, Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement.  Participants under age 18 need a parent/guardian to sign one for them.  Failure to do so will result in one being prohibited from participation.

Rental Equipment

Rental equipment is not included with any private lessons, however you may have added equipment to your reservation. Rentals can also be added at any time. We recommend using Keystone Sports, with locations adjacent to both our River Run and Mountain House Ski & Ride School facilities. By reserving your rental equipment online in advance you’ll save time and money! Keystone Sports allows guests to pick up reserved equipment the afternoon/evening before your reservation for no extra charge, which also makes the day of your lesson a much smoother experience!

**If you need to pick up equipment on the morning of your lessons, please plan to arrive at the rental shop at least one hour prior to your lesson start time.
