Ski With a Ranger

Ski with a ranger tour is an opportunity for the United States Forest Service, Friends of Dillon Ranger District, and Keystone Ski Resort to partner and provide free one hour guided interpretive tours for the purpose of highlighting the resources of the National Forest and the resort’s environmental commitments.

Ski With a Ranger

Hours: 11am on Fridays

Volunteer Rangers guide a one hour ski or snowboard tour down an intermediate trail on Dercum Mountain at Keystone Ski Resort. Participants meet at the top of Dercum at the lookout deck at 11:00 am on Fridays from Friday, December 18, 2015 through March 28, 2016. The Ski With a Ranger tour is free to participants, but a lift ticket or season pass and at least intermediate skiing ability are required. Each tour follows the naturalist guide through several planned stops on the mountain to learn about topics of interest.

Topics include, but are not limited to:
• Local Wildlife
• Lifecycle of the Mountain Pine Beetle
• Tree Types and Identification
• Avalanche Awareness
• Local History
• Resort Environmental Programs

Dates:  Ski With a Ranger has ended for the winter. Thank you for a great season.

Time:  11:00am -12:00pm

Location:  Meet at the Lookout Decon on top of Dercum Mountain

Cost:  Free (must have a lift ticket)
