Ski With a Ranger

Ski with a ranger tour is an opportunity for the United States Forest Service, Friends of Dillon Ranger District, and Keystone Ski Resort to partner and provide free one hour guided interpretive tours for the purpose of highlighting the resources of the National Forest and the resort’s environmental commitments.

Ski with a Ranger has ended for the ski season. Visit our summer activities page for guided hikes and other summer activities.

Volunteer Rangers guide a one hour ski or snowboard tour down an intermediate trail on Dercum Mountain at Keystone Ski Resort. Participants meet at the top of Dercum at the lookout deck at 11:00 am on Fridays from Friday, December 19, 2014 through March 27, 2015. The Ski With a Ranger tour is free to participants, but a lift ticket or season pass and at least intermediate skiing ability are required. Each tour follows the naturalist guide through several planned stops on the mountain to learn about topics of interest.

• Local Wildlife
• Lifecycle of the Mountain Pine Beetle
• Tree Types and Identification
• Avalanche Awareness
• Local History
• Resort Environmental Programs

Dates:  Fridays, December 19 - March 28

Time:  11am - until approximately 12pm

Location:  Meet at the Keytop Deck at the top of Dercum Mountain

Cost:  Free (must have a lift ticket)
