Keith Bellows is the Senior Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Travel Media and National Geographic Traveler magazine. Prior to joining National Geographic, Mr. Bellows launched BabyCenter.com as its creative director; was the executive producer of Excite.com; and was founding partner of WestWorld Media. He created and edited more than 30 magazines for Whittle Communications, and has written for Esquire, Sports Illustrated, Parenting, AARP, and many other magazines. He also wrote The Canuck Book and the 1998 Winter Olympics ACCESS Guide for ABC-TV. His book, 100 Places That Can Change Your Child’s Life, was published in February 2013. Mr. Bellows is a graduate of Gordonstoun School in Scotland and Dartmouth College. He lectures extensively around the world and his more than 200 television appearances include the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, and a regular segment on National Geographic Today.

Kid's Night Out with Keystone Ski School

Time: 5pm-9pm (drop-off between 4:45-5pm)
Location: Drop-off and pick-up is located at the Children's Center located in the Silver Mill Courtyard located in the River Run Village, directly behind the Starbucks
Price:  $85 per child (includes the cost of activities and dinner)

Parents, enjoy Keith Bellows's presentation while your kids are treated to a night out of their own that includes dinner, activities, and a break from spending all their time with you!  For your children aged 2 months through 14 years-old, it means an opportunity to enjoy a pizza party and activities like tubing, movie night, or playing at the Snowfort, and arts and crafts with others their own age. And for infants, under the responsible, watchful eye of our professional childcare staff who know how make things fun.  FREE transportation will be provided to the Keystone Lodge for parents attending the presentation.

No one knows this better than our own Keystone Ski Patrollers, who welcome you to a special educational event on Avalanche Science as part of Keystone’s Ultimate Field Trip. Our Keystone Ski Patrollers will give an in-depth and interactive lesson on the causes, impacts, and science of an avalanche, how this affects their daily Ski Patrol responsibilities, as well as some basic avalanche safety topics. Also, there will be a special appearance from one of Keystone’s very own Avalanche Dogs.

Ski with a Ranger

Ski with a Ranger

Date: Friday, February 28th, 2014
Time:  11:00am Tour
Location: Start from top of Dercum Mountain
Cost:  Free Lift ticket required.

As part of Keystone’s Ultimate Field Trip, we are proud to partner with the Ski with a Ranger program to provide a guided interpretive tour of Keystone for our Homeschoolers, highlighting the resources of the National Forest and the resort’s environmental commitments – the Ski with a Ranger program is a partnered effort with the United States Forest Service, Friends of Dillon Ranger District, and Keystone Ski Resort.

Volunteer Rangers will guide a one hour ski or snowboard tour down an intermediate trail on Dercum Mountain at Keystone Ski Resort. Participants meet at the top of Dercum at the lookout deck at 11:00am on Friday, February 28th, 2014 . The Ski With a Ranger tour is free to participants, but a lift ticket and at least intermediate skiing ability are required. Each tour follows the naturalist guide through several planned stops on the mountain to learn about topics of interest.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Lifecycle of the Mountain Pine Beetle
  • Tree Types and Identification
  • Avalanche Awareness
  • Local History
  • Resort Environmental Programs
