Q&A with a Snow Biker
What Is A Snow Bike?
Snow Biking. It isn’t exactly skiing and it sure isn’t biking. But you are certainly straddling something similar to an old-school-style, squishy, banana bike seat and sliding downhill…fast.
Get Ready to Ride
To clarify, you do not need to be a skier - snowboarders are accepted too. You’ll get mini ski blades that you strap to your boots, which you’ll use to turn and maneuver on the hill. The bike has two blades instead of wheels with a front handle bar that turns and responds to weight-shifts that allow you to carve down the hill. It is a sport unto itself, so as long as you are somewhat athletic or up for an outdoor activity, no other skills are required.
Where You'll Go, What You'll Do
If you and your friends or family are looking for a new adventure and a ridiculously fun time on the slopes, and maybe willing to feel a bit ridiculous-looking on the slopes, snow biking is for you. Seriously it is really fun. You’ll gather with your friends and check in at River Run Village’s Mountain Service Center to pick up your tickets. Then you’ll head up the Gondola and over to the Adventure Center Yurt. The friendly staff will get you set up and even ride with you to give you some pointers and help you feel comfortable out on the wide open ski trails. Then it is time to let ‘er rip down Frenchman, or Jackwhacker, Wild Irishman, or if you are comfortable, something right under one of our ski lifts.
